Over 50 unaccompanied child asylum seekers who went missing soon after arriving the UK and while under the supervision of government agencies are still missing, based on information acquired.

A significant number of the unaccounted minors arrived in dinghies or stowed away in the rear compartments of trucks and are presumed to have been seized by smugglers. A specific county is commonly the location where they initially reach.

Statistical Information Shows Alarming Numbers

Disclosed records has recorded 345 children going missing from local care, with 56 of those remaining unaccounted for.

From 2021 and 2023, when designated facilities for children functioned combined with hotels in different regions, 132 children went missing from these facilities. Among them, 108 were later found but 24 are remain unaccounted for.

Between 2020 and August 2025, 213 children went missing from welcome hubs for such children, with 182 located and 32 yet to be accounted for.

Nationality Breakdown of Vanished Minors

In both cases, minors from Albania were the largest group to vanish, making up 50% the overall number from the hotels, 68, and in excess of one-fourth from the reception centres, 65.

The next most common nationalities to have gone missing from the two settings are Afghans subsequently people from Iran.

A separate representative stated: "The safety and welfare of lone migrant youths remains a priority, and we take children vanishing extremely seriously. We persist in regularly review our methods for updates if this happens, providing appropriate details with regional law enforcement and municipal agencies investigating the issue."
